How to prepare sandy soil for new lawn
Before laying down your new turf, we have to start at the bottom. If you have sandy soil, the best way to change its consistency is with Underturf.
Underturf allows your turf to access water through the roots; is loaded with nutrient enriched organics and provides your new turf with all the food and nutrient it needs to grow strongly.
To get the area ready for Underturf, give the area a quick scrape over with your rake and clear it of any unneeded bumps and then cover it with at least 25mm of Underturf.
If you find your soil already grows things well, you can take a look at our blog on how to prepare for laying turf.
Types of turf for sandy soil
Another important factor in the success of your lawn is the variety of turf you choose. Of our range, the one that will grow best in naturally sandy soil is the Empire Zoysia.
- It’s easy to look after, has excellent wear tolerance and thrives in heat and humid conditions.
- Being a low maintenance grass means you can spend more time enjoying it rather than looking after it!
